Lady K Kelker | Mother's Day Message | May 10, 2026
There are few gifts in life as powerful, sacrificial, and life-changing as the love of a mother.
On Mother's Day, we often celebrate with flowers, cards, gifts, and special meals. While those things are wonderful, the greatest gift we can offer is gratitude. Mothers give so much of themselves every day—often without recognition, applause, or acknowledgment.
Their love is felt in the sacrifices they make, the prayers they pray, the lessons they teach, and the countless ways they pour into the lives of their children.
Love Her While She's Here
One of the most important reminders we can receive is this:
Don't take your mother for granted.
If your mother is still living, love her.Honor her.Spend time with her.
Tomorrow is not promised.
Many people wait until it is too late to say the things that should have been said while there was still time. The Bible teaches us to honor our father and mother, and that commandment does not come with an expiration date.
Whether your relationship has been easy or difficult, there is power in choosing honor.
Mothers in the Bible Faced Real Challenges
Sometimes we read Scripture and forget that the men and women in the Bible faced struggles just like we do today.
Eve
Eve became the first mother in history. She also experienced one of the greatest heartbreaks imaginable.
One son was murdered.Another son was banished.
Yet she continued to trust God and move forward.
Her story reminds us that even in seasons of grief, God can still sustain us.
Sarah
Sarah received a promise from God but grew impatient waiting for it to come to pass.
Instead of trusting God's timing, she attempted to help God fulfill the promise herself.
The result created years of unnecessary difficulty.
Her story reminds us that God's promises do not need our shortcuts.
When God speaks, trust Him enough to wait.
A Mother's Sacrifice
One of the most powerful examples of motherhood in Scripture is Jochebed, the mother of Moses.
When Pharaoh ordered Hebrew baby boys to be killed, she made the painful decision to place Moses in a basket and trust God with his future.
What looked like surrender became salvation.
God not only protected Moses but allowed his mother to remain part of his life.
Sometimes the greatest act of love is trusting God with what matters most.
Raising Children Matters
Parents carry a tremendous responsibility.
Children learn far more from what they see than from what they hear.
They watch our actions. They observe our decisions. They learn from our example.
A child who sees integrity learns integrity.
A child who sees faith learns faith.
A child who sees consistency learns consistency.
The greatest lessons are often taught without words.
Be the Example
The world offers countless influences competing for the attention of our children.
Social media.Entertainment.Peer pressure.Culture.
But nothing will ever replace the influence of a godly parent.
Our children need to see faith lived out every day—not just on Sunday mornings.
They need examples of forgiveness.Examples of character.Examples of prayer.Examples of perseverance.
They need to see what a relationship with God truly looks like.
Give Grace
Parenting does not come with a manual.
Every parent makes mistakes.
Every parent has moments they wish they could do differently.
Yet God gives grace.
Just as He patiently guides us, He helps parents navigate the challenges of raising children.
When we don't know what to do, we can ask Him.
When we feel overwhelmed, we can lean on Him.
When we fall short, His mercy is still available.
The Legacy of a Mother
A mother's influence extends far beyond childhood.
The lessons she teaches, the values she instills, and the prayers she prays often shape generations.
The world may never fully see the impact of a faithful mother, but heaven does.
Today, celebrate the mothers who have loved, sacrificed, corrected, encouraged, and prayed.
Honor the women who helped shape your life.
And if your mother is still here, don't wait.
Call her.Visit her.Thank her.
Because one day, you'll wish for one more conversation.
Love her while she's here. ❤️
