On a powerful Youth Sunday at Fresh Wind Community Church, multiple speakers delivered life-changing messages centered around one important question:
What Grade Are You Spiritually?
The theme, "Graduating Into Purpose," challenged every believer to evaluate where they are in their spiritual journey and determine what God is calling them into next.
Whether you're a new believer learning the foundations of faith or a seasoned Christian pursuing deeper intimacy with God, one truth became clear throughout the service:
God never intended for us to stay where we started.

Building a Strong Foundation in Christ
The service began by focusing on spiritual elementary school—the foundational stage of every believer's journey.
Just as children learn reading, writing, and arithmetic before advancing academically, Christians must learn the basics of faith before they can mature spiritually.
These foundations include:
Reading and studying God's Word
Developing a consistent prayer life
Learning to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit
Understanding salvation through Jesus Christ
Growing beyond guilt and condemnation
As Scripture teaches in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, God's Word equips believers for every good work.
Without a foundation, growth becomes impossible.
Moving Beyond Spiritual Comfort Zones
The next message explored the challenges of spiritual middle school—a season of transition where many believers become stuck.
Growth requires movement.
Movement requires change.
Many Christians remain in the same spiritual season because they have become comfortable carrying things God never intended them to carry.
Questions posed to the congregation included:
What burdens are weighing you down?
What clutter remains in the locker of your heart?
Are you studying God's Word or simply carrying it around?
God is calling His people to stop settling and start progressing.
Discovering God's Purpose for Your Life
The high school portion of the message focused on purpose, calling, and identity.
One of the strongest points made was this:
Develop Your Character Before Your Career
Many people spend years chasing success while neglecting spiritual growth.
However, according to Galatians 5:22-23, God first develops:
Love
Joy
Peace
Patience
Kindness
Faithfulness
Self-control
Before God elevates your position, He develops your character.
The congregation was also encouraged to stop comparing their journey to others.
Comparison steals joy.
Purpose is not discovered by looking at someone else's life.
Purpose is discovered by pursuing God.
The Message That Challenged the Entire Church
The primary message of the day came from Temphest Blue, who delivered a powerful illustration comparing spiritual maturity to higher education.
Her central theme was simple:
College Is A Choice
Elementary school, middle school, and high school are required.
College is voluntary.
Likewise, many Christians remain satisfied with basic faith while God is inviting them into deeper levels of relationship, sacrifice, and spiritual growth.
Going Deeper Costs Something
While salvation is free through Jesus Christ, maturity requires commitment.
Spiritual growth costs:
Time
Discipline
Prayer
Study
Obedience
Surrender
Many believers want the benefits of spiritual maturity without paying the price of spiritual growth.
Temphest challenged the congregation to stop settling for surface-level Christianity and pursue a deeper walk with God.
The Degrees of Spiritual Growth
Using the educational system as an illustration, Temphest described several stages of spiritual maturity.
Associate Degree: Your Associations Matter
Who you spend time with influences who you become.
Scripture repeatedly teaches that relationships shape our direction and spiritual growth.
Bachelor's Degree: Life Isn't About You
Many believers become stuck because they remain focused on themselves rather than God's kingdom.
True maturity begins when we understand that God's purpose is bigger than our personal desires.
Master's Degree: Allow God to Refine You
The Master's Degree represents the refining process.
This is where:
Pride is burned away
Insecurity is exposed
Excuses disappear
Faith grows stronger
This is the place where God shapes believers into who He created them to become.
Doctorate Degree: Healing and Restoration
The highest level discussed represented healing, reconciliation, and complete dependence on God.
Many people need more than knowledge.
They need healing.
God is still restoring lives, healing hearts, and transforming people today.
The Graduation Ceremony
One of the most impactful moments of the service came when the focus shifted from education to graduation.
At a graduation ceremony, nobody celebrates the classes.
They celebrate the person who endured the process.
Likewise, God is not only interested in what we know.
He is interested in who we become.
When God calls your name, what testimony will follow?
Will there be evidence of:
Faithfulness?
Perseverance?
Obedience?
Transformation?
Spiritual growth?
Fresh Wind Community Church's Challenge
The altar call concluded with a challenge for everyone in attendance:
Stop Repeating the Same Grade
Many believers have remained in the same spiritual place for years.
The invitation was clear:
Graduate.
Move forward.
Grow deeper.
Trust God.
Walk in purpose.
The Lord is calling His people into a new season of maturity, boldness, and spiritual growth.
As Matthew 5:16 reminds us:
"Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
